Beercast #6 – GABS (Great Australian Beer SpecTAPular) Review

Zach, Simmo and Huddo do a recap of their first GABS experience. We cover the festival itself, our favourite beers and elude to a few cheeky stories that will stay at GABS as they would in Vegas. Bon Appedank.

Hudo goes after a Deeds Brewing Counter Clockwise Czech Dark Lager.

You know the clock is ticking, but you can’t hear it. All your energy is focused on the stethoscope on the door of the safe. You slowly turn the dial counter clockwise, and then you hear it, that faintest of thuds as the tumbler aligns. . . click. Your hand slowly begins rotating clockwise, shifting position ever so slightly. There’s a commotion upstairs. Wait, was that click? You can’t be sure. Gently moving the other direction again, sweat drips from your brow as your jaw clenches tighter. Just one more number… This Czech Dark Lager, with its crisp roast, is the perfect beverage as we travel through the shorter days and colder nights.

Grattsy stays on brand with the 7th Day Brewing Dropping F-Bombs Double NEIPA.

A super juicy hazy IPA with a passionfruit kick. With real fruit, dry and cold hopped, at 8% it’s festival time!

Simmo goes retro with a GABS inspired beer with the Deeds Brewing In Vino Veritas Hazy Double IPA.

In wine, there is truth. Based on our first Hazy Double IPA, originally brewed for GABS, In Vino Veritas represents what beer can be with a little creative thinking. This juicy Hazy DIPA is made with Sauvignon Blanc Grape Must added mid-fermentation and then dry hopped at a rate of 20g/L with Nelson Sauvin, Citra and Galaxy. It pours a vibrant golden colour with aromas of white wine, fresh gooseberries, and tropical fruit bursting from the can. In Vino Veritas.
