Beercast #21 – Kaiju!, Hope Brewery, Modus Operandi

It’s The Thirsty Devil Brewery launch week and we couldn’t be more excited! Well… A couple of us at least. Simmo was rude enough to attend a friends wedding instead.

In the real world, we discuss the important news making waves in the craft beer world. The ‘consolidation’ between Wayward and Batch, the GABS can art countdown, the revelation that is Spectrum hopping, plus initial reactions to a few new beers from fresh local legends at The Thirsty Devil.

For taste testing this week, Simmo required an old faithful entry level pale to assist his wedding induced hangover. The dynamic Hudd dives into a 500ml Modus Hazy and a Belgium barrel aged sour. Gratzy enters the third dimension courtesy of a super special 11% IIIPA from our overlords at Hope.

All this and some hints at future plans for the BB crew on a brand new episode.

Grattsy goes with the Hope Brewing F-11.1% Red Jet IIIPA 2022.

Bold and noisy just like a jet! It’s a massive Triple Red IPA that’s packed with loads of hops. A very intense, piney and resinous beer pop riveted together by bitterness and navigates its high alcohol for a perfect landing.

Hudo gets into a Modus Operandi Future Factory IV Hazy Double IPA.

One of the highest rated Untappd beers, Future Factory Hazy IIPA is back for its fourth incarnation and we’ve kept the CFO away from the costings. The Future Factory series is Modus’ expression of why and how we love hoppy boundary busting IPAs like we always have: old school hops like Galaxy and Citra (plus a few more – go on guess?!), new school dry hop ratios with the juicy benefit of our hazy yeast evolution capturing each little morsel of lupuloid love. Bursting with fresh fruit salad vibes, brimming with tropical characters of pineapple and passionfruit without the slightest hint of high ABV warmth: it’s dangerous drinking at its best! Take your seats for a profound juice journey.

500ml | 8% ABV

Simmo has an old faithful, Kaiju! Krush Tropical Pale Ale.

After generations of KAIJU! interacting with the local flora, a new species arose. The FRUJUS found the balmy weather and laid-back pace in tropical climes to their liking, settling many remote islands, but always on guard for those who would seek to exploit their mouthwatering juiciness and impeccable balance. A super-clean malt profile allows the shipload of juicy tropical fruit flavours to arrive on the desert island of your palate unhindered. And it comes in a can, so after you Krush it, you can Krush it.
