Beercast #28 – Working Title Brew Co. Showcase
[Border Barrels back at it again]
We felt it was important to work our name into the title this week, in honour of our favourite new Queenslanders, Working Title Brew Co.
Hudson provided this weeks POD with 3 MASSIVELY unique beers, ranging from an Ice Cream sour to a Coffee ale and a Lime puree Milkshake DIPA.
We manage to successfully make amends for our GABS top 5 gaffe from last week. What exactly did we vote for? All is revealed!
We also live up to our word by providing a loyal listener with a delicious collection of beers. All it took was some interaction via social media. Could you be next?

Bubble Trouble Tutti Frutti Ice Cream Sour
Taking one of our favourite treats as a kid, we’ve endeavoured to transform tutti fruitti ice cream into a beer. A solid sour base loaded with Amarillo and Talus is the framework for the tropical juice explosion. The sour is serious, at pH3.2 but has a minerality that keeps it all in check.
This is juicy fruit chewing gum in a glass. Loaded with those tropical fruit flavours of pineapple, mango, passionfruit and banana, it’s an odd combo that seriously works. Juicy and sour, tropical and dry. Like a millennial chewing gum at a bus stop, it’s definitely better than it sounds.

Reign Supreme Affogato & Cream Ale
We’ve officially teamed up with perennial coffee masters Coffee Supreme, to challenge perceptions and make something really unique. Trying to emulate an Affogato, we’ve taken specially roasted Brazilian and Guatemalan beans and matched them to a malty, layered English style ale with lactose.
Coffee gelato floods the senses straight off. Delving into the beer, intricate layers of caramel biscuits are followed by poached pears and a hint of raisins. Like a dessert at one of those fancy places, you can moosh it in your face or be a bit classy and sip away, discussing gentrification these days.

Shakedown Lime Milkshake DIPA
Lime Milkshake; a polarising one for the WT team. A hit of nostalgia for some, and a complete abomination for others. Either way, we agreed it’d be fun to give it a shot. A rich, oat laden, protein heavy mash was injected with Cashmere, Citra and Motueka. lime purée was added during fermentation, to get that complete lime hit.
Whoa, that’s some heavy lime gear. Lime in the nose, in the flavour and a tantalising lime citrus finish. The rich, silky mouthfeel oozes with cream. This really shouldn’t work, but the citrus helps to balance the sweet body and with a dry citrus finish, this will leave you jonesing for another hit.
