Beercast #53 – Bacchus Brewing Co. Showcase
Simmo brought the goods for this week’s episode, and ‘goods’ is absolutely the tamest way to describe it.
Ladies and gentlemen, the first unanimous 5/5 in Border Barrels history now resides in episode 53 of our Brewery Showcase series.
Although it sounds like we’re thanking Simmo, all the kudos goes to QLD legends Bacchus Brewing! Despite being familiar with their work, we all learnt some crazy things about their history and work ethic. Some of the pioneer innovators in the Australian craft beer scene that we adore so much.
It probably shouldn’t be too surprising that the favourite beer of the day was a big, old stout, but you’ll have to click play to find out the extra special ingredients of the brew currently ranked 1st of almost 100 in our journey.

Hopnado Tropical IPA
The huge vortex of hops swirling in our brew kettle on this brew looked just like a hop tornado. Charged with a huge quantity of Talus hops & then dry hopped with an eclectic mix of tropical CRYO Hops – Citra, Mosaic, Sabro, El Dorado, Idaho 7 & Cryohop, this unfiltered IPA deliveries a literal tropical hopstorm in a glass – delicious!!!

Challenger IPA English Style IPA
Displaying all the character of the IPA’s of yesteryear. Rich malt profile with characteristic Challenger Hop flavours – spicy, straw like with marmalade undertones. Reminds me of marmalade on toast – delicious!

Monumintal Choc Mint Pastry Stout
This Monumental Stout has been infused with rich Dark Chocolate & pure Mint to create a perfect balance in aroma & flavour. Intense, but smooth & decadent, the perfect After Dinner liquid treat.
