Beercast #33 – Shapeshifter Brewing Co. Showcase

Beercast #33 – Shapeshifter Brewing Co. Showcase

April 25, 2023 Off By Border Barrels

Gratzy clearly stayed up all night howling at the Moon, because along with some delicious Shapeshifter beers, he brought a strained, raspy voice to the POD this week.

The cure? How about an IPL, a Nordic Hazy, a big Oat Cream and a WILDCARD entry?!

We take a look at the history of Adelaide’s Shapeshifter Brewing Co while sampling some of their finest new releases, straight from the source itself courtesy of a special delivery driver.

We also continue with our list of beers to look out for at this years GABS festival.

Thank you to Shapeshifter Brewing, Jason our delivery man, plus new and existing subscribers for showing an interest in our journey. Tell your friends, because we have plenty more breweries to explore and we want more friends to take on the ride with us.

Nothing But Net – Biotransformation Lager

This is a double dry hopped lager with notes of lychee, white grape, peach and orange.

With a delicious pilsner malt base and using a classic strain of lager yeast, we treated it like an IPA and loaded it with hops during active fermentation.

After that the yeast did its thing – called biotransformation – and created a medley of unique flavours.

Do you prefer lagers or IPA’s? Doesn’t matter! This is the beer for you.

Nordic Hazy IPA – DDH Hazy IPA

This beer was fermented with kveik, an exciting strain of yeast from Norway that bucks all the conventional brewing trends.

Used for generations by Norwegian farmhouse brewers, it ferments extremely quickly and thrives in conditions where traditional yeast does not. It can produce amazing fruity esters when underpitched, perfect for hazy IPA’s.

This strain is a blend of three different kveik yeasts and is double dry hopped with Citra and Galaxy for maximum juiciness.

Phasers To Stun – Oat Cream IPA

Phasers to Stun is a sweet and pale orange oat cream IPA that is sure to stun your taste buds!

Made with the finest ingredients, this beer boasts a unique blend of Ekaunot, Sitiva, and Amarillo hops that create a complex and deliciously sweet flavour profile.

A heavy oat addition gives it a silky smooth texture and a luscious velvety finish.
